So, there has been an APB out on Matt lately. I'd like to let you all know that Matt has a serious addiction. He is severely addicted to watching OPRAH!
Now, when I was younger I used to watch Oprah a lot. Everyday actually (me and my best friend Kelly would call each other and sit on the phone saying "did you just see that?") I am all for watching her show and taking positive things from it. BUT, thanks to dish network and this lovely feature called DVR, all Matt wants to do is watch OPRAH! Go for a walk? - NO OPRAH! Go to a movie? - NO OPRAH! DO ANYTHING? - NO OPRAH! I mean he makes an episode of OPRAH last all night! He can pause it, he can rewind it and he can start it all over if he wants.
I AM BEGGING for your help. Please leave encouraging comments for Matt so that I can drag his butt away from this OPRAH fettish and back into a marriage full of understanding and rational compromise.

So, I will not comment on how watching TV rots your brain (the view that is very popular among parents). I will however, say that I am currently in the middle of an "OPRAH BOYCOTT". Now, I am not handing out flyers or picketting or anything like that, I am not that extreme (For those of you who watch the O'Reilly Factor, you know what I am talking about). What is the reason for this Boycott? Well, recently it was reported that Oprah basically threw a hissy fit while in Paris. She wanted to go shopping at a store which was closed to the public because they were holding a private gathering. Oprah was OUTRAGED. She said she was EMBARRASSED, DEMEANED and couldn't believe they wouldn't let her in. She was actually talking about seeking damages as a result of this situation. She told a local news crew all about it. The store finally conceded to grant her entry.
When I heard this I was OUTRAGED!! Who the the flip does she think she is? Oprah, is no better than anyone else. She is not royalty (although I would argue they are no better than anyone else as well). I suppose it burns my cookies that celebrities feels as those they are not required to obey the same rules as everyone else. And Oprah, the self-proclaimed humanitarian, should think about that for while.
Matt, listen to your wife. Get help. I know it's hard to Just Say No to an addiction, but you can do it. I have faith in you. Check into OA-- Oprah Anonymous. They have great success in helping people overcome this horride addiction. Please Matt for the sake of your marriage. GET HELP!!! We love you and will help you in anyway we can.
Nicole, I agree with the Oprah/Paris thing. I was so mad, because for so long, I didn't think should would be like that.
Anybody remember Oprah in "The Color Purple"...she was married to Harpo. Coincidence that she named her company after the man that beats her in that movie? Interesting choice..eh?
Ironically, Harpo is just Oprah spelled backwards...has nothing to do with the man that beat her in The Color Purple.
Last time I checked I did not turn down something for Oprah. Everyone has their thing to relax..mine just happens to be the DVR (where SARAH is the one that set to tape Oprah every day). Sarah's is blogging.
I was practicing setting the DVR actually. I never meant to tape all the episodes.
They probably thought it would be funny to name the guy Harpo since her name was OPRAH! Nice find Nicole.
Matt, I know that she named her company Harpo because it is Oprah spelled backwards. I did read "The Handmaid's Tale" when I was in 12th grade. As such, I always look at everything spelled backwards...an annoying habit I have. I was just making the point that somehow, everything is connected, only the degrees of separation vary.

Matt spells backwards equals something boring said by someone with a stuttering problem. My name spelled normal equals a dead guy on a door step with no arms and no legs. HA! I kill me.
